The Legal Aid Society Community Website is an effort by The Legal Aid Society, Civil Practice Area, to provide useful legal information to the community we serve.

The site began as a joint initiative of the Lawyering in the Digital Age Clinic at Columbia Law School and The Legal Aid Society in 2003.

The website addresses legal issues and questions that are commonly faced by our clients. The Legal Aid Society appreciates the high demand for its services in New York City and recognizes that it cannot represent every low-income New Yorker.

Through this website, we hope to make important legal information available to all visitors a 24/7 basis.
